How to a add new entry

You need to be logged in to save your edits (and on mobile view, you need to be logged in to start editing).

Add a new log entry always on top in the appropriate season sub-chapter and use format:

* '''Start Date to Finish Date (use Format YYYY-MMM-DD) / Duration in Days / Hiking or Packrafting / Travel Direction (SOBO for Southbound or NOBO Northbound) / Chosen Route and/or Option Name (RR for Regular Route) / Names or Alias'''

If you are packrafting, put the above info into HTML tags like this (if you follow a hiking route for part of the way, highlight only "packrafting", as above):

* <span style="background-color:aqua;">'''YYYY-MMM-DD / X days / Packrafting / SOBO / RP / Your name'''</span>.

Include remarks about your route useful for other hikers and packrafters, alerts, suggestions and personal perception of attractiveness and difficulties. Try to be specific. Do not be shy to fix obvious mistakes.

Season 2023/24

  • GPT 73P Lago Yelcho/ Packrafting/ Southbound/ 2023 Nov-04 / 2 days/ Jordan Jennings

I got very lucky with weather - two glassy, calm days accompanied by rain. 2nd night I stayed at (Camp?73p [14.6+0.6/67]) which leaves 18.5km (for the most direct route with a lot of exposure), or perhaps 20km (if following lake edge) to finish. The “camp” is two cabañas on a small island - no one was there while I was, but perhaps they are occupied more frequently during summer. One of the cabins has an awning which I used as shelter from the rain.

Hitchhiked from the finish back to Puerto Cardenas for the beginning of Rio Yelcho - first car picked me up.

Absolutely loved my time

Season 2021/22

  • 2022-Jan-16 to 2022-Jan-18 / 2,5 days / Packrafting / SoBo / GPT 73P Lago Yelcho / Tobias Schorcht

While crossing Lago Yelcho I had to think about Jan's words, who characterized the lake as a "Beast", many times! The direction of the wind changed within seconds and forecasts were wrong many times. Got stuck on the peninsula right in the middle of the Lake (emergency Camp) for 1 day. For 1 small freestanding tent the camp is fine, if you have a bigger tent, the night will be uncomfortable. The 2 other camps are just amazing!! I also recommend to visit the 30m waterfall (not on the route) -43,26788, -72,28440.

Season 2017/18

  • 2017-Dec / 2 days / GPT73P Lago Yelcho RR / Eastbound / Meylin Ubilla and Jan Dudeck

We traversed the lake a week ago in two days in south-east direction. Due to predominant wind this is the only feasible direction. Very challenging due to wind and limited exit options on the last 17 to 20 km. Only feasible on low wind days in the morning hours (therefore best split in two days). Sail recommended to speed up when wind increases.
