The route starts at the gate of access to the Oak, at 12:42 m. (although they may continue to drive 4.1 miles until the 1680 meters). The ruat is very clear to the bifurcation to Ocoa, because it is a vehicle built for the road construction and maintenance of the antennas of the summit. A normal weekend (especially after snow), should find some cars on the road. You must start to walk towards the west. The road climbs steadily to the bifurcation. The first section is along the edge of the ridge south of the hill. After reaching the ridge that divides the valley and Olmué Caleu. To the west, you have beautiful views of the palm of Ocoa and La Campana. Shortly after this first glance Olmué Valley, is a fork for the pedestrian path to Ocoa (1680 m and highest point of the route). You must turn left, heading west. To the top of the oak you follow the main road vehicle on the route described in Cerro El Roble (road vehicle). The path is wide and pleasant in the shade of the oaks far north of the southern hemisphere, and goes on a gentle slope on the southern slope of the ridge that separates the two valleys. After 2.3 kilometers, the trail passes the north side of the ridge, more sun exposure, and scrubby vegetation suddenly disappear oaks, but getting in return a beautiful view of palm Ocoa at our feet. It should walk a mile wide along this route until it joins an old quartz mine (on the southern slope). At this point, begin a short steep section for cyclists (no problem for walkers) labeled as "steep part" on the map. It should lose a few meters to the pass that separates the two valleys, where there are records of camps. To the left is a path leading to the valley of Olmué, but you should take lightly marked trail on the right. It zigzags up the hillside, and thorn bushes, down sharply from 1404 to 1135, at which point the trail joins with "La Mina" National Park Palmas de Ocoa and where the route becomes "civilized" for cyclists. A few meters further, you must cross a wooden bridge in bad shape, and then drive a nice descent. A little later, are the first palms. After a long stretch by the same slope will reach a sign marking "Cascade: 0.5km" on the right, marked "bifurcation cascade 2" because this is more common path take the opposite direction. You can visit the waterfall and back (it's worth). Then the path crosses a stream with water all year and continues down to another fork to the same waterfall, marked as "bifurcation cascade 1". Then you reach the casino industry, with many palms, and then to the upper parking lot ( "The Pearl") to finally reach the entrance to National Park, where rangers.
Alternatives
* If the path is done in the sense described (Caleu - Ocoa) is perfectly possible (especially on bike but also on foot) climb to the summit of Oak (see Cerro El Roble (road vehicle), then go down and take the fork to Olmué.
* When the steep part ends and the trail is reached "La Mina", you can turn right and just 200 meters further, reaching the quartz mine and a mysterious bus abandoned in the middle of the stream (? ).
* From "Bifurcation cascade 2", you can take the detour to the waterfall and then, instead of returning to the route by which we were, and continue on that path until the junction in "Bifurcation cascade 1".

Expcted Time
*Trekking: In a normal pace, this trek should take about 4 to 5 hours between the gate and access to the Oak Ocoa CONAF.
*Mountain Bike: Nearly two and a half hours to three hours.
It is possible to reduce both times in about 40 minutes if you drive up to the bifurcation to Ocoa.

Recommendations
* Headlight is recommended to take to travel the first few meters of the quartz mine which names the path "La Mina" (which is in the valley of Ocoa, not the edge)
* The section from the "bifurcation cascade 2" is described in more detail in PN La Campana, Ocoa
