The Greater Patagonian Trail is a long distance trail network in the southern Andes that spans 3000 km from the outskirts of Santiago all the way to southern Patagonia.
It's It’s a stunningly beautiful and diverse trail system that crosses volcanic fields, idyllic Andean guides you from the semi-desert of the Precordillera into scenic Andes valleys, snow covered mountain ranges, with grazing animals. The trails cross numerous times dormant and active volcanic terrain with partially healed volcanic scars and fresh open wounds in the landscape that were caused by recent eruptions. You can take a dip in more than a dozen hot springs along the trail to taste this energy.  If you continue you will dive into the twilight of lush green forests tempered rain forest that is lined by snow covered mountains. Crystal clear rivers decent from these mountains and feed deep blue lakes lake along the way. Numerous passes and rivershigh plains get you above the tree line into barren terrain with broad views.   Eventually you can reach the giant glaciers of the Southern Icefield that calve colossal blocks of ice into wind battered lakes.
