→Trail Name
The Greater Patagonian Trail was first hiked from November 12, 2013 to February 23, 2014 by Meylin Ubilla and Jan Dudeck. During this first hike of the trail few route seek detours were required because the route planning with satellite images was limited in densely wooded areas. The now published trail elimintates this detours and can hiked by any experienced hiker with sufficent endurance and the proper equipment.
===Selecting the Trail Name===
While hiking the trail I have long thought how to name this trail. I was looking for a precise but well descriptive name.
The name "Greater Patagonian Trail" seams a good choise because:
* With with more than 1300 km it’s a great trail in length,* the trail is without doubt a great trail in beauty and,* it's the trail is located completely in "Greater Patagonia",* the name remains correct while the trail gets continued further south and* the name incorporates the legend of Patagonia and may become one day a legend himself.
