From Santiago, take the G-25 route to “Cajón del Maipo.” From "Vizcachas" intersection (km 0), it's 47 kilometers of paved road up to “San Gabriel” police control station (contact numbers are +56228611008 and +56228612290, in case you want to call and check on the road condition; keep in mind that their assessment tends to be over conservative).
The detour to “Baños Morales”, the little mountain village along the north side of the "Volcán" river, is located at the 65.1km mark (the paved road ends on kilometer 66.3, just before Lo Valdés gypsum mine). Between June and September, if there has been recent snowfall, this road might be cut.
