From Santiago, take the G-25 route to “Cajón del Maipo.” From "Vizcachas" intersection (km 0), there are 47 kilometers of paved road up to “San Gabriel” police control station (phones are +56228611008 and +56228612290, in case you want to call to check on the road condition, keep in mind that their assessment tends to be over conservative).
The detour to “Baños Morales”, the little mountain village along the north side of the "Volcán" river, is located at the 65.1km mark (the paved road ends on kilometre 66,3, just before Lo Valdés gypsum mine). Between June and September, this road might be cut if there has been recent snowfall.
