==Season 2023/24==
2024 nov 16th to nov 17th / 2 days / sobo / Hiking / RR until laguna blanca (turned back) / Allie
Day 1: started in Currarehue in the morning. Mostly minor roads to get to the entrance of the park. Easy way except a few fences to climb. The locals are super friendly. I asked a few people if it was possible to pass the volcan quetrupillan. It might have gotten lost in translation, but some said i should go and see for myself, others said it was possible even with the snow. I camped by the river after 18,2 km into this section on the RR. Theres a small camping spot with a fire place near the bridge huililco. I filtered the water from the river. I had some issues with my achilles but decided i would check it out in Liquiñe.
Day 2: first 9 km are straight forward. After that there are large patches of snow and ice, covered in fallen leaves. Lots of snowbridges. The path is no longer visible past this point at this time of the year. Once above the treeline, its mostly snow and here and there some volcanic rock patches. I was there quite early in the day so the snow was okay to walk on. It took quite some time to get to laguna blanca and my achilles started acting up. The laguna was covered in snow and as far as i could see it was only snow. The view was beautiful. I decided to turn back as i did not feel comfortable to pass that much snow, also not knowing what was behind the quetrupillan. Backtracking was easy on the ridges because of my foottracks in the snow. However the snow became slushy in the afternoon which was tiring. Camped at the same spot as the night before. And taking a rest in town now with a tendinitis
