Humbled.
Just got humbled by the wind. First day we were pushing up to pass, and the wind became quite strong, despite weather saying it would be calmer. Opted to try and camp in some rock cover for the night rather than risk getting in a tough spot on plateau. Wind ended up becoming too strong, only found a spot for Gabe’s 1 person tent, and we built a rock wall to protect from exposed side. ( -46.67712 , -71.85435) Cold wind, ripped through the tent all night, as we cramped together lol. Hoped for improved conditions in the morning.
Lots of Guanacos in the morning, very cool. But when we reached pass, the wind made it very hard to stay standing and walk forward. Very tired from the horrible sleep, we opted to return to Chile Chico and try and organize a ride to Jeinemeni. Once in town, realized it wasn’t really in the cards for us. Opted to hit the ferry, bus, bus combo to Cochrane and continue from there.
Perhaps could have pushed on in wind, perhaps could have walked 40km on the road, but that’s all in the ether now. It was still beautiful to see the pampa and Guanacos.
