Season 2025/26
==Season 2025/26==
* ''' 2025-Dec-22 to 2025-Dec-31 / 10(9) Days / Hiking / SOBO RR / Massa and Jacicek '''

Generally the track through the park is maintained and easy to navigate. Water is plentiful.

Day 0
Went by bus from Bahia Murta to Chile Chico, managed to explain to the driver that we want to drop off at crossroads to El Ciprés, the ride took approx 6 hours and we arrived around 7pm. Very short hike just to pass the gates (unlocked) to get to nature, we camped alongside small stream [S 46°33.7889’, W 071°49.6138’], spot for one tent protected by the bushes.

Day 1
Long hike through the NP to the Camp 32.6. We met Claudio mending his fence and one other local on his horse. Beautiful valley and plato, seen a lot of animals. We didn’t encounter any river that needed fording shoes (we followed the OSM track at km 23.9). Camped around 250m downhill from Camp 32.6 (optimistically set up tent when wind was down and had to move it).

Day 2
Hiked downhill, met another local riding his horse with two dogs. For a brief section we followed OH-CC-A at 35-C as the path across meadows seemed nicer, however this than continues along bare hillside, so we went directly back to the RR (there is animal trail there also). Road walking was easy, with nice views but long. Camped at El silencio, met guard on his way home and he went back to log in us even after hours (he was very friendly).

Day 3
Easy walking around the Lago Jeinemeni with nice bridge at camp Raleigh. Both Lagos are beautiful. All fords were easy. Camped at official camp in Valle Hermoso.

Day 4
No walking due to bad weather with better forecast for tomorrow.

Day 5
Nice walk with clear paths, Fords are many but all easy, only obstacles are fallen trees before pass km 74.9 (sobo). Camped at official campsite at km 83.

Day 6
Days walk to Casa Piedra, we took a water from stream running from read mountains, this was highly mineralized and tasted acidic after treatment with micropur (chlorine based) tablets, we discarded this. The bridge over the gorge is beautiful, however, the ongoing path is up and down a lot, the path on the other site seem flatter. Young ranger in casa Piedra, payed 10 000 CLP pp and got a warm shower, no tickets checked and no new ones needed.

Day 7
The SSL trail runs through slightly drier part of the park, 1liter was enough for us between water sources though. The SSL start after casa Piedra was full of bushes, but trail was visible. Camped next to Laguna Guagua [-47.13500, -72.30704] .

Day 8
Nice and recognizable paths, stream at 130.4 had wild mint growing in it :-) , the minor road to Settler at km 136 appears to been restored recently. We camped at OSM free official camp site at CA km 139.

Day 9
Mediterranean feel to the hike to Cochrane, rangers at the station had a lunch break and we signed out without issues.
