==Season 2025/26== '''2026-01-06 to 2026-01-14/ 3+2+4 days / Hiking / SOBO / RR + Option 1 and 2 / Dave & Siyuan''' Summary: We took 9 days of food leaving Chile Chico. The first 3 days were on the plateau. We decided to go to the Cherry Festival in Los Antiguos (just cross the border in Argentina). We hitched a lift to Chile Chico when we got to the road on day 3 afternoon, then went across the border the following day. Two days later, we got a lift back to the part entrance and continued our hike through Parque Patagonia. Finished with a hitch to Valle Chacabuco. We saw a lot of wildlife on this section. Day 1: 10kmGot the 8am bus from Chile Chico towards Coyhaique, but it was delayed by an hour and they charged us $4k CLP each. A local taxi would probably be cheaper. Exited the bus after 8km at -46.55736, -71.82521. Dirt road continued for 8km and was easy to follow. Water was available at -46.57576, -71.82803 and -46.59019, -71.81717. The cross country section is easy terrain with many animal trails. We camped after about 2km at -46.61882, -71.81595 at a grassy spot next to the stream. Not totally protected from the wind but flat with water nearby. We saw lots of Guanacos!  Day 2: 12km Easy cross country terrain all day. We had no wind at all on the plateau but I imaging it would be very windy with the right conditions. If you see flamingos in the lagoons, make sure you take photos early because they all flew off as we approached and we never saw them again. We met GPTers Michael and Kasia who told us about their excellent camp where we camped tonight: -46.70956, -71.88111 (flat, nice stream and slightly protected from westerly wind). Day 3: 11.3km Easy cross country across the plateau, and down to the road. We followed variant C (following the fence) but still got wet feet in a few boggy sections. We got a lift back to Chile Chico after waiting an hour at about 17:00. Day 4-5: Cherry Festival in Los Antiguos Day 6: 9kmGot a lift from Chile Chico to the Park Entrance. Bought our tickets online with the starlink wifi. Easy and flat walk to Raleigh Campsite.  Day 7: 16.6km Many river crossings. Walked in our shoes through 20 + fords. All easy below our knees. Camped at Camping el Puesto 78.1/888. However there was no Puesto. Day 8: 21.4kmCrossed the main river and a couple of other small fords, no issues. An easy long walk down the valley, mostly downhills. Camped at Casa Piedra Camping 99.6/380. 10000 per person, hot showers, wifi, and electricity. Windy but there were sheltered spots to set up tents. The stone hut was awesome to be sheltered from the weather. Day 9: We started hiking on the road towards Chacabuco, soon we got a lift and the rain started...
