- New GPT01 Option 2 (Cerro Los Cristales): Natalie and Tomas suggested this route that connects GPT01 and GPT02 into one long hike. This route starts outside of national parks and reserves (Unlike GPT01 Option 1) therefore GPT01 Option 2 is feasible in southbound and northbound direction (Unlike GPT01 Option 1 that can only be hiked in northbound direction since Reserva Rio Clarillo does not permit a southbound traverse). This route is only recommended for experienced hikers that have vast experience in navigating in complex terrain. This option is not a suitable start for hikers that are not yet familiar with the GPT.
