*'''2025-JANFEB-05 7 to 2025FEB-JAN-07 8 / 2 1.5 days / Hiking / SOBO / RR+OH (varVar. A, E, H, I, K, M, N, OJ) / Ivan, Jakub, Daniel, Martina'''
A relatively simple and short section through Los Alerces National Parkwithout major complications. Since For most of the route, we found stayed on the park expensive RR. The exceptions were at the beginning, where we followed a gravel road until the junction [2.4/558], and not particularly interestingbetween km 27.6 and 28.6, where we decided followed a path marked in OSM data. This proved to pass through it as quickly as possiblebe a functional choice, mostly except for one steep climb and a fence crossing. The last deviation from the RR was along Variant J, where we stayed on the MR instead of following PRa trail that looked overgrown.
Los Alerces National Park is home to the second-oldest trees on the planetIn general, which is why every foreign visitor must pay an entrance fee most of around 20,000 ARS at the park gate (at approximately km [10.7]) for the first day, and 10,000 ARS for each additional day. Additionally, overnight stays are only allowed in paid campsites. Since section follows roads that we found it excessive to pay such fees just for walking on a gravel roadwould classify as minor roads, we looked for an alternative solution. After nearly an hour, the office staff called a park ranger, who, after we promised to sleep despite being marked as trails in a campsite, allowed us to pass through without paying what we considered an unreasonable amount. For this reason, we chose to follow PR as quickly as possible to exit the park as soon as we couldtrack files. Apart from a few exceptions, we found the detours to the trail unnecessaryWe didn’t encounter any difficult bush bashing or major navigation challenges.
BIVOUACING:CHALLENGES
Camping is only allowed in designated paid campsitesAfter the ford [8. The campsites marked as "Free" in TF are mostly closed with a camping ban7/610], the trail becomes somewhat unclear, making navigation slightly more difficult, but it’s nothing too serious. A similar situation occurs around junction X [14.1/785].
WATER:The most common obstacles on this section were fences, which we had to climb over multiple times.
Since this section follows lakes At coordinates -43.00882, -71.57781 (km 16.5), there is a closed gate with a phone number to call for most of permission to pass through the wayproperty. We were unable to reach anyone, water is abundantnor did we encounter anyone on-site. The next day, the landowner called us back and said we should have paid 4,000 ARS for crossing. However, since we were already far ahead, we didn’t pay anything.
RESUPPLY:WATER
Every campsite we passed had Water is plentiful, with the trail crossing multiple small streams. RESUPPLY Villa Futalaufquen has a small shop with basic food in the center at the beginning of the section. It mainly offers snacks rather than staple foods, but it’s possible to buy suppliesfor a few days, fast foodincluding bread. Aldea Escolar has a tiny shop. Since we needed a gas canister, and WiFiwe hitchhiked to Trevelin, so carrying several days' worth of food is unnecessarywhere all necessary supplies are available.
