From Talca you must take the rout 115 towards San Clemente (East), a small town. There are 40 kilometres from Talca to the Vilches road to the left, the road is in good for most of the cars, half of it is covered by asphalt. From the start of the Vilches Road, there are 29 kilometres more, the first 9 with asphalt.

Public Transport

There are buses to Vilches from Talca Bus station. Frequency of this busses if nearly 2 busses per day during winter, and one almost one every hour during summer. Remember always ask for more information calling to the buss terminal station +56 - 71 - 235327.

Best Season

Between end of October-November till May.

Route Description

It's around 10 kilometres hiking till arriving to Enladrillado starting from the Administration of national park Altos de Lircay, there are 2 possibles routes to arrive to Enladrillado, a straight one, and other through Laguna del Alto. The straight route goes through the Valle del Venado trail, the trails are very notorious and in the CONAF Administration you will get a map and some more instructions about the route status and conditions of Enladrillado. It is important that you ask about the status of Enladrillado during the months near winter (October, November, Abril, May), there may be snow in Enladrillado. Till yesterday 11/07/2009 there was a 1 1/2 metres of snow in Enladrillado, not though in the trail there where there was no snow at all.

Estimated Time

Normal pace: 4 hours walking up from the administration, 3 hours going down till administration. Fast Pace: 3 1/2 hours walking from administration, 2 1/2 hours walking down till administration.

Permits / Fees

  • No permits required. A fee of CLP $ 3000 per day must be paid for Altos de Lircay National Reserve.
