''' GPT26/2026-01-25 to 2026-01-28/4 days/ SOBO/RR-variant D/Denis, Robert '''

At 16km ranger on car stoped next to us and he was saying that we cannot keep going because Resersa National is closed and we are not allowed to walk on trails there. We recommended to us to walk back and hitch hike. But there are no any signs about closure, so I was bit frustrated and didn’t want to go back after 15 minutes of discussion he allowed us to go, with the fact that if anything we had never met.
Otherwise the section is easy going few sections are little bit overgrown, but nothing serious. All river fords were easy to do. We jumped over many fences.

No water issues for whole section.

Border crossings went smoothly but while entering Chile, officers were chatting about dron but at the end all good.

We took the variant D with hope to see bus, but we didn’t spot any.

Attractiveness 2/5
Difficulty 1/5

*'''2025-FEB-8 to 2025-FEB-11 / 3 days / Hiking / SOBO / RR / Ivan, Jakub, Daniel, Martina'''

An easy section along the edge of the Argentine pampas, approximately half on minor roads and half on trail. A pleasant walk with beautiful views of the surroundings. About 0.5 km before Ford {26} [31.8/917], we encountered a man on an ATV who asked us what we were doing and informed us that it was a private road and a private nature reserve. We explained our plans, showed him the map, and he let us pass without any issues. There is also a sign at X {26} [11.6/360] with entry rules, emphasizing the prohibition of campfires.

Border controls were completely hassle-free.

Challenges: Nothing complicated, although frequent fence crossings may be worth mentioning. The only Ford {26} [31.8/917], crossing Arroyo Greta, can be slightly challenging during rain. It rained while we were there, and the water reached halfway up my thigh (I’m 178 cm tall).

Bivouacing: Absolutely no problem; places can be easily found along the road, although sometimes it involves climbing over a fence to find something a bit more rugged. Be cautious of livestock. We camped in the grass just behind Aldea Escolar (-43.146088,-71.546059) on the first night, then at a nice spot by Ford {26} [31.8/917] on the second night, the third night at Camp {26} [66.1/395], and the last night in Palena.

Water: No issue; the trail frequently crosses streams or rivers.

Resupply: In Aldea Escolar, there is a small shop (-43.13191, -71.55222) with a very limited selection. We hitchhiked to Trevelín, where we found excellent shopping options and also managed to get a gas cartrige. If you enjoy premium beef, we highly recommend visiting Oregon Grill and Cabins in Trevelín. They have excellent steaks at reasonable prices! A well-stocked shop can be found in Carrenleufú (-43.58926, -71.70226), and there are several stores in Palena with good selections. We found a gas canister at the restaurant La Rosadita in Palena, which also has great waffles.

In the morning, we separated into two groups and it took us about one hour to get a hitch to Trevelin, which is a good place for resupply – sadly you cannot take some stuff from Argentina. Thijmen went directly to Aldea Escolar, where there is not much in terms of ressuply. I and Natalie, after shopping, took a bus to there at about 13:00 for one thousand ARG. We met at the river-in for Rio Futaleufu. Before the border the river is extremely mild with no rapids to speak of. We continued to GPT70 – even if you continue on GPT26, read that entry as it has important info on water levels.
