4 sunny and windless days made this an amazing experience for us. The automn colors were great.
We are hiking with trail runners which made this muddy section harder for us. We would love to use boots for this section if we had a chance.

After a rest day we rented a bike and took the MR on 02B to watch whales and return the same day.

Day 1:
We went straight south at the southern end of Prat st. and skipped 2 km.
The trail was very muddy and snow started to be annoying from approx 300 m alt. Anyway the trail was clear by steps on mud or snow. The snow made everything beautiful and some ponds were even frozen. At some point we saw a beaver diving below the snow.
After the pass it was pretty much CC without a clear trail. A lot of fallen trees (because of the beavers?), a lot of flooded areas. It was hard to follow the GPS tracks so we just hiked where it seemed OK. There are sticks and pink stripes marking the trail from time to time but the path is not good.
Camped at Refugio Beauchef with flat and (almost) dry ground.
Really enjoyed meeting another hiker who already made a fire, and dried our shoes with him.

Day 2:
Same muddy unclear path until we started ascending Monte Betinelli.
The ground becomes dry and the path is clear and easy to follow the trail, and later the stone piles. We really enjoyed the view from the summit of south side!
Camped at (-55.02647, -67.65712). Thanks Mia for the suggestion.
Optional to camp 300 m before with better views, but not perfectly flat ground.

Day 3:
Easy to follow the trail, though it was yet very muddy.
Camped at (-54.98048, -67.79293), quite wind protected and flat.

Day 4:
Easy climb to the pass. We loved the view of the lake and the beagle.
Going down after the like we struggled a little to find the pass due to fallen trees and we were very happy to finally arrive the MR. Traffic was surprising, a car every half an hour+- and we hitched easyli.

Day 5:
After a rest day we rented bikes in the commercial center. 10k clp for a day and you need to return before 9pm.
We rode to (-54.92879, -67.28339) on the MR. It took about 2.5 hours of net riding. We loved the way along the shore. At Punta Euginia we have seen whale glimpses every 10 minutes or so. If you do it we highly recommend taking binoculars.
We had perfect weather so riding was easy.

* ''' 2025-MAR-29 > 31 / 2,5 jours / Randonnée / RR / Pierre-Marie '''
Day 3: Trail was often not visible with the snow, also less signs and cairns than the other days. A few meters below the lake i found a campspot (at least for 3-4 tents: -54.951364, -67.76058) with very good shelter in the forest. I would recommend these instead of the spots next to the lake, but i didn't know this option last evening.
Descent from the lake to the road was more difficult than from Paso Virginia because it was muddy like hell. Maybe it was because of the bad weather. -54.94473, -67.732571 Here the trail splits up to left and right. Took the left trail suggested from the GPT-files. First part was nice and easy, later is was awful: a maze of mud and no trail nor signs. I guess the trail to the right is maybe better. Was relieved when i reached the road and got a hitch soon.

*'''23-nov to 28-nov 2024 / 5.5 days / Hiking & Packrafting / Hiking RR to Lago Windhond, Packrafting PR, Hiking Option 2A and 2, RR / Manon & Robin'''

Day 1: We started from the camping El Padrino at midday. We started by the Regular Route going directly South towards Lago Windhond. We hiked 13km this first day and stop nearby a small lake to put our tent before the weather was too bad - it was raining and started to snow...

Day 2: We finished the hike towards the south to reach Lago Windhond, with the objective to cross the lake with our packrafts ! We arrived quite late at the lake at 4PM, there was a bit of wind, but we started crossing with the idea to stop on the shore or on the island on the way. The weather forecats indicated not too much wind for the next day too. Finally we followed approximately the route indicated as RP and stopped on a very small island on the middle of the lake and slept there - incredible experience !

Day 3: we started packrafting early and followed the proposed PR track - diagonal across the lake. With the small wind, there were also a bit of waves, and following this diagonal route, at some point we were very far from every land - that felt quite exposed and we felt afraid of being so far from any shore, so we decided to go perpendicular to the east shore to finish our ride along this east shore. Much better feeling when we are only around 200m off the shore. We think a better Packrafting route, at least for ultralight packrafts as we have, would be to follow the eastern shore all the way. Even more because some locals told us there is a hiking trail following the eastern shore of the lake if needed. At the end of the crossing, we were very cold witht he cold weather and the cold water of the lake ! It took us time and energy to warm up. We then followed the hiking route EXP-RP-CC-A {67} [32.1+0.3] and EXP-RP-CC-A {67} [35.4+2.8] and we cross the river at EXP-RP-RI-2 {67} [32.4+0.1] (Rio Windhond), we managed bu the water was very deep at this point (even if no current), so we think it is easier to cross the river further from the lake if possible.
We hiked down to Bahia Windhond, then walked on the beach until we crossed the river again - very easy cross on the beach. We then joined back Option 2 to go back North. We slept on this track at altitude 160m, found a spot with trees for wind protection.

Day 4: We came back to Refugio Windhond following Hiking Option 2. For that, we went up along a long and wet valley. Even if the slope is low, you can't go very fast in this terrain with no trail , crossing wetland and small vegetation patches. At the end of this valley, the pass is then rocky and very steep. There was no snow to go on the pass so it was not too dificult. To go to Refugio Windhond, we wanted to shorten a bit the distances so after the pass we found our way directly down to the Refuge. It was mainly very dense Bush Bashing, so not sure it was advantageous in terms of timing !

Day 5: We are finally back on the regular route of the Navarino circuit. We have a nice day on trails until Laguna Martillo.

Day 6: we have low amount of food left, so we decide to finish the trail today to be able to eat a lot for dinner ;) Lond day of hike then. The trail is well marked until you are in the forest - The presence of castoreras makes it more difficult !
