Route Description
Expected Time
Normally you would do it in 2 days. Considering half of the trekking is through the pass zone, either you camp (hard) near it, or you can distribute the asimetrically the effort between the 2 days, camping before it (with a really hard second day) or after (with a very hard first day). However, considering the distance and the difficulty of the ascending of the initial point and the end, you must consider a lot of time for the logistic matter asociated with transport.
Permits / Fees
- No permits required. A fee of CLP $ 3000 per day must be paid for Altos de Lircay National Reserve.
Recomendations
- Because of the non-intuitive of the trekking just after the the pass, a GPS could be really valuable (not a must though) for this trekking.
- In case of traveling by car from north (Santiago i.e.) it is recomendable to leave the car in Molina city, then take a bus to Talca and from there a Bus to Vilches. If you are coming from Santiago, the best is to leave at 11.30 to take the last bus to Vilches and camp there for starting the hike next day.
