Northbound:
The bus leaves from Puerto Varas towards Cochamo quite a few times a day, but you have to ask around for the specific times. We took it at 13, and I think it left at least once more that day. The employees at the different outdoor stores know pretty well where the bus leaves from and who to ask.
You can get of the bus around 15 km earlier if you want to save yourself some roadwalking
Southbound:
In addition to accessing through GPT20, it is possible to take private transportation on the road that runs along the south shore of Lago Rupanco and walk the final 5-7km to the northern start point of GPT21.
