This long distance trail The Greater Patagonian Trail leads you right through the heart of the legendary Patagonian Andes. It's a stunningly beautiful and diverse trail that crosses volcanic fields, idyllic Andean valleys, snow covered mountain ranges, lush green forests and deep blue lakes and rivers.
Without any doubt substantially longer and more challenging hikes have been done in this region and on this continent. To the knowledge of the author the Greater Patagonian Trail is the first and currently only long distance hiking trail in South America that is continuous, documented in detail, exceeds the 500 mile or 800 km distance mark and largely avoids roads.
